Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Clinicians sometimes become temporarily full, but we always maintain space to accept new clients. If you’d like to work with a specific clinician, let our office know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
-
Watermark is a self-pay practice. This means that we do not accept payment for services from health insurance companies. When you work with us, you will pay us directly for the services you receive. We accept cash, checks and debit or credit cards (including HSA cards).
We know that money is an important issue, and we have chosen this model for a number of reasons. When you pay directly for your health care there are no hidden costs or unexpected medical bills. You know exactly what your costs are upfront. Additionally, you have complete control over the course of your treatment; you and your clinician will decide together when you come, and how many sessions you will need rather than your insurance carrier.
If you were hoping to use your insurance, there is good news! Many insurance companies will reimburse for licensed professionals who are out-of-network providers (that's us!)
We understand that working with insurance companies can feel overwhelming, and we will work closely with you to make the reimbursement process as easy as possible.
Most insurance companies require that you submit an out of network claim form along with a detailed billing statement. We can provide you with the claim form that you need and the “superbill” which shows the fees that were paid. When your forms are filled out, you will send in the paperwork (by mail, email, fax, uploading) and your insurance company will process it. The insurance company will directly send you a reimbursement check for the amount that they cover.
If you have more questions, please speak to our office staff, we are happy to help you navigate the self-pay process.

During your first session, you will get to talk about what brings you to therapy. You might share some of your history and you’ll get to know a little about how your therapist approaches the process. Most importantly, you should leave the first session with a general idea of what goals you’ll be addressing while working with us.

Each session lasts around 50 minutes. Sometimes it can go longer if there is a specific need.

The answer to this question is different for each person. On average, most people benefit from between 10-15 sessions over the course of about 3-6 months. Sometimes therapy goes on over longer periods of time. Our job is always to accomplish your goals and send you on your way. You should always know what you’re working on which is established and recorded in your treatment plan.

Most importantly, you should be able to recognize when therapy is helpful. If you have concerns, the first thing you should do is talk to your therapist directly. Sometimes people need to adjust their goals and sometimes people are not ready for the therapy process. Also, its very important that you and your therapist are a good fit. It’s ok to change therapists to get a better fit or to access a different skill set. If we can’t help you, we will do our best to help you find a new option.
